Revamping Taba's Checkpoint
A WELCOMING FIRST STEP
At the crossroads of Cairo, Nuweiba, and the Israeli border lies one of Sinai’s most vital checkpoints. A first impression for travelers entering Egypt and a key control point. This checkpoint is not only the first welcome for visitors arriving from Israel, but also a major entry point for those journeying from Cairo, finally reaching the breathtaking coastline of South Sinai.
Originally, the checkpoint was built in a simple manner, lacking both functionality and visual appeal. Recognizing its importance, Hemaya took on the challenge in the early 2000s to redesign and rebuild the checkpoint into a more efficient and aesthetically pleasing facility. With funding from the Egyptian American Bank, Hemaya transformed the site into a proper welcoming checkpoint.
The project was widely recognized and earned Hemaya a special acknowledgment from the city’s mayor, solidifying its role in the community.
